Dickens, Charles (1812-1870), Autograph letter signed, April 8th, 1857, one page, recipient unknown, concerning his authorship of David Copperfield and The Pickwick Papers , 8vo, framed, (creasing). Text in full: I beg to state that I give my consent, on the solicitation of Mr. King of St. Michael's Hill, Bristol, to the admission into this country of one copy of a Leipzig reprint of David Copperfield, and one copy of a Leipzig reprint of Pickwick (I being the author of both books) brought over by a German passenger from Manila in the Hamburg ship Martaban.
