Harris, Joel Chandler (1848-1908), Autograph letter signed, November 15th, 1883, two pages, as Editor to The Constitution , to Mr. Johnson, discussing politics with some vitriol and with an ending paragraph in vernacular "Uncle Remus" speak, "There is a streak of meanness in all our statesman...With the exception of Lincoln - who was the greatest of them all and the best - our statesmen are not a pleasant lot to look upon or remember", (second leaf with browning and spotting).
