Cloth Doll with a Pressed Cloth Painted Head, possibly Heine & Schneider Art Doll, early 20th century, brown painted eyes, closed mouth, painted blonde hair, cloth body, jointed composition arms (slipcovered in fabric), legs are cloth with ne plus ultra-type joints at hips (some wear and paint chipping on head, paint worn on hands), period cotton clothes (some fading, socks worn, shoes missing), ht. 14 in. Provenance: The doll was brought from Wittenberg, Germany, to the United Sates by the young owners Louis and Matthew Bitzer, uncles of the consignor, circa 1905.
