Sunderland Pink Lustre and Transfer Decorated Staffordshire Jug, England, c. 1820, the jug with applied strap handle with Sunderland pink splash lustre collar and bands surrounding black transfer decoration on a buff ground, one side depicting a three-masted sailing vessel flying a British flag above a prayer for Peace & Plenty, the reverse with a transfer printed verse welcoming the bark to England's shore, under the spout is a verse entitled "The Sailor's Tear," (crack on collar, hairlines), ht. 8 1/8 in.
