Possibly the Work of John Denison Crocker (Connecticut, 1822-1907) Portrait of Harriet (Evans) Gulliver of Norwich Connecticut at Two Years of Age. Unsigned. Oil on canvas, c. 1861, sitter identified by two notes affixed to the reverse, 21 x 17 in., mounted in original gilt gesso oval frame. Condition:Retouch to chin, scattered background spots. Provenance: By family descent through the Gulliver family until 1991. Note: Notes affixed to the reverse indicate that the girl portrayed was Harriet (Evans) Gulliver wife of Henry Gulliver (b. Feb. 27, 1859, d. Sept. 30, 1938). "Family members were painted by the artist John Denison Crocker and this one is likely painted by his hand."
