Pair of Colonial Shoe Buckles, a Civil War Era Sash, and a Pair of Harvard University Medals from the Morse-Marston Family, Maine, including a pair of c. 1770-90, Artois highly curved faceted steel shoe buckles; a maroon woven silk sash with tassels, a note pinned to it is inscribed "Belonged to James Burgess Farnesworth in Wisconsin Regiment in Civil War;" and a pair of brass Harvard University medals with the original motto "VE RI TAS" and "Christo et Ecclesiae" and the year "86" in gilt numerals on the crimson ribbon, buckles 1 7/7 x 2 3/4, sash lg. 120, medal dia. 1 in. Note: The buckles are named after the Comte d'Artois, who as French Ambassador to England, introduced them into this country.
