Classical Rosewood, Ormolu, Gilt Gesso, and Marble Pier Table, New York, c. 1825, the white marble top on a conforming base with applied ebonized molding, and rosewood veneer frieze with brass gilt mounts showing Psyche and Cupid in a chariot being drawn by peacocks, flanked by similarly dressed female figures watering flowers, the bottom edge with brass reticulated band on frontal legs with gilt acanthus capitals, tapering white marble columns, on turned gilt plinths, with corresponding square tapering rear pilasters flanking the central mounted mirror glass, all joined by a shelf with concave front, with gilt scrolling designs of flowers and cornucopiae, and applied brass beaded edge all on gilt gesso and acanthus-carved legs ending in hairy paw feet, refinished, (restoration and imperfections), ht. 37, wd. 50 1/2, dp. 19 1/2 in.
