Carved and Polychrome Painted Wooden Indian Tobacconist Figure, America, late 19th century, the carved full-figure Native American maiden wears a V-shaped feathered headdress, earrings, a dress with fringed neckline and hem cinched at the waist with a feathered belt, a striped cloak with fringed trim draped over her left shoulder, and fringed moccasins; her right hand holds a square snuff box, and she stands on the original square wooden base further mounted on another wooden base, all painted in shades of red, blue, green, white and mustard, a small cast iron label attached to her left shoulder reads "THIEL," (old repaint, repairs), total ht. 65, base wd. 14 1/4 x 14 1/2 in.
