Chinese Export Lacquered Wood Sewing Box, early to mid-19th century, chamfered rectangular box with hinged lid, single drawer, brass swing handles, gilded and red decoration over black lacquer, the top and sides painted with garden scenes with figures and floral borders, the interior and drawer fitted with a compartmented tray, (three sections with covers), containing several carved ivory sewing implements including clamps, thread barrels, winders and spindles, needle cases, and pincushions, with carved and gilded paw feet, (minor wear), ht. 6 3/4, wd. 14 1/2, dp. 10 1/2 in.
