American, late 19th/ early 20th century. A collection of four framed Victorian style needlepoint panels comprising of a pair of ovular figural panels, each depicting a courting couple in a landscape setting with the female playing a lute as her male companion to left looks on, the scenes with arched border to top of floral cartouches, the panels to bleached wood frames with Louis XVI style ribbon bow pediment; a vertcal rectangular panel decoration with a single floral medallion surrounded by shaped cartouche and scroll patterning, in tones of burgundy, gold, blue, and tan; and a figural panel depicting an interior scene with elderly grandmother in a carved wood chair holding a young child on her lap and teaching it the methods of needlepoint, the chair set beside an open window with potted floral plant before it and with a dresser behind it holding a mirror and other everyday objects. Ovular panels framed approximately 22.125" x 16.25", floral panel framed approximately 32.5" x 26", grandmother and child framed approximately 25.25" x 21".
