Two Small Chip-Carved Wooden Boxes, 16th/17th century, the rectangular boxes each carved out of a piece of wood with sliding lids, geometric chip-carved and incised decoration, one with a wrought iron strap securing the lid, the other with possible Runic inscriptions on one end, (one with old repair to secure sliding lid, losses), 3 1/2 x 3 x 5 1/2, 3 x 2 7/8, x 8 1/4 in.
