Unusual Vulgar Picture Automaton of a Cobbler, the hand-colored paper scene depicting a dilapidated atelier with articulated figure of the cobbler at work beneath a crooked sign Lanpegne, Au Soulié Minion , in glazed rosewood frame with hinged flap concealing going-barrel mechanism which causes the figure to raise or lower his head, open his mouth and lift his arms simultaneously as he pulls apart two threads connected to a large hole in the center of his trousers, which he is attempting to sew back together, 13 1/4 x 15 3/4 in. , three movements.
