Large China Shoulder Head Doll with her Small Dolly, Germany, c. 1850, blue painted eyes, white highlights, molded upper lids with red line above, lower lid has light mold markings that hint of eyelashes, red-painted mouth with deep philtrum and defined chin, soft pink cheek coloring, deep shoulderplate with sloping shoulders, head made from a three-part mold, a single front and two back pieces (very small shrinkage line at join of mold on back bottom edge), black molded hair combed back with sides sweeping to curls behind exposed ears, cloth body, brown kid arms, period cotton print dress and undergarments, black wool shawl, brown leather shoes, ht. 24 1/2 in., carries small blonde frozen Charlotte doll (damaged limbs) wrapped in swaddling clothes.
