Appliqued Cotton Rose of Sharon Quilt, America, c. 1855, appliqued quilt top with nine large red, orange, and blue flowers issuing blue and red buds, bordered on three sides by a blue meandering vine with red and orange flowers and buds, the bottom corners cut to fit a four-poster bed, on a white ground with white binding and backing, quilted with flower buds and oak leaves, the top border with diagonal line stitches, (scattered stains and bleached spots, toning), 82 x 76 in.
