$2,350
Steiff Dark-Golden Mohair Bear, "Twyla", c. 1920, with underscored "F" button and remains of red stock tag in ear, deep-set amber and black glass eyes, upturned black embroidered nose, mouth and claws, excelsior-stuffed body with growler (silent), back hump, swivel joints, long arms, and peach felt pads in sturdy condition, ht. 9 in., (minor scattered loss). Note: Twyla's distinctive, upturned expression bears more than a passing resemblance to E. H. Shephard's illustrations for Winnie the Pooh of the same era.
