Poured Wax Creche Figure Automaton, c. 1930, sculpted as a reclining child, with articulated head and eyes, in marbled paper-covered box with ruched pink lining and Thorens musical movement causing the baby to fall asleep in time with the music, wd. 14 in., (head and eye movements inoperative, repairs to arm and legs). Note: A newspaper clipping included in the Lot suggests that these musical wax babies were imported by Lauer in New York.
