Early American Brass Microscope, possibly a bench-made prototype, with rack-and-pinion coarse focusing controlled by large knurled wheels, fine focusing by lever acting on the nosepiece (now missing), objective, limb pivoting between twin tapering pillars and secured by lever, rectangular stage with one (of two) clips, reflector on compass joint, and cast-iron claw-toed Y-foot, ht. closed 15 in., (missing eyepiece).
