Two Folk Art Carved and Painted Wooden Pig Figures, New Mexico, late 20th century, the larger figure by Leroy Ramon Archuleta, with inset glass marble eyes and carved wooden teeth and rope tail, signed and dated on belly, "Leroy Archuleta 12/31/95," the smaller figure by David Alvarez with wooden peg teeth and rope tail signed "D Alvarez" on belly, ht. 15 1/2, 9 1/2, lg. 27, 15 in., respectively. Note: Leroy Ramon Archuleta, (b. 1949), is a second generation woodcarver, born and still living in Tesuque, New Mexico. His father was master carver Felipe Archuleta (1910-1991). Leroy has developed his own recognizable style, carving life-size creatures from cottonwood. In the fall of 1998, the Albuquerque Museum held an exhibit of his work called "Leroy's Zoo."
