Two Needlework Samplers, Sarah and Maryann Scrivener, probably early 19th century, both worked in silk threads on a linen ground, Sarah's sampler with alphabet panels over a pious verse and numerous motifs of birds, flowers, animals, potted plants, hearts and crowns, surrounded by an acorn border, 15 x 12 1/2 in.; Maryann's sampler has a large building on the top register above a pious verse and rows of flowers, birds, animals, and trees, also with an acorn border, 17 1/2 x 14 1/4 in.; both in likely original mitered wood frames.
