Federal Silver Whistle and Rattle, c. 1805, formed as a mermaid blowing a trumpet, suspending eight bells hung with half moons, the horn of the whiste engraved with name and dated 1805, with further names and dates to horn and to half moons dating from 1853 to 1893, on circular link chain, whistle lg. 4 1/2, chain lg. approx. 28 in., approx. 7 troy oz. Note: The first name engraved is that of Augustus Hemeway, born in Salem, Massachusetts, April 25, 1805. All the other names are also Hemenways.
