Goebel Porcelain Half-Doll Representing La Belle Chocolatiere, with impressed crown mark 5 1/2 , modeled as a young lady carrying a tea tray with cup and chocolate pot, finely-painted features, closed mouth, painted eyes, molded blonde hair tucked beneath bonnet with colorful flower decoration, matching bodice, and silk skirt forming a chocolate pot cozy, ht. 6 in., (chips on edge of tray, pot handle missing, silk distressed). Literature: Frieda Marion and Norma Werner, The Collector's Encyclopedia of Half-Dolls , p. 97. Described as "Das Dresdener Schokoladenmädchen", this model was inspired by a painting ( La Belle Chocolatiere ) by Swiss artist Liotard, in the Dresden Gallery.
