A Rand McNally & Co 18" terrestrial floor globe, chromolithographed paper over plaster; the land masses with detailed cartography (faded) , oceans colored blue (also faded). Mean isothermal lines for January and July colored respectively blue and red. Submarine telegraph cables indicated by hatched line, International Date Line in red. Analemma or table of equation of time showing the sun's declination and the difference between the clock and sun every day in the year. Globe is marked with oval cartouche RAND, MCNALLY & COMPANY 18 INCH TERRESTRIAL GLOBE. Below cartouche 'Copyright by Rand McNally & Company, Chicago/ Made in U.S.A.' and with Explanatory Key Under Cartouche: Submarine Telegraph Cables thus Black, Mean Isothermal lines for January Blue, Mean Isothermal lines for July Red. Globe rests in wooden stand with paper horizon ring graduated in degrees in two directions, days of the month and houses of the Zodiac with names and symbols and also showing compass directions (faded with losses) supported on four curved quadrant supports to a gray distressed painted baluster turned upright issuing three downswept supports.
