Art Deco 18kt Gold and Lacque Burgaute Vanity Case, France, the shaded mother of pearl panel wiht gold foil inlays depicting a lady and her maid in a garden scene, within a red lacquered case, French maker's mark for BM, guarantee stamps, no. 15776 , (slight fissures to panel, small losses). Note: During the Art Deco period, these Japanese lacquered panels, produced by a technique of Chinese origin, were worked by Paris makers such as Cartier and LaCloche into vanities, cigarette cases, vases and clocks. The box is both gold and silver.
