Important scrimshaw whale tooth, early 19th c. , one side with an inset profile portrait of William Rotch (1734-1828), the other with the Rotch Fleet, born in Nantucket and later a resident of New Bedford, Rotch was an influential force in the whaling industry both here and abroad.
