French, Louis XVI period (1774-1792), circa 1790. A pair of giltwood mirrored wall sconces with shelves,each with an upper section comprising a neoclassical giltwood ribbon for hanging, over a small upper shelf with beaded edge, surmounting the mirror frame with central shell crest flanked by scrolls and cyma-curved edges with relief carved garlands, the oval form mirror with foliate pattern frame, over the acanthus carved base surmounting a fluted plinth with carved patera flanked by large scrolls with leaf carved edges terminating in curved acanthus scrolls, surmounting the large lower astragal form shelf decorated with beaded edge and heavily relief carved flower garlands with turned bell drops, with foliate carved shaft terminating in a foliate finial.
