No. 36 Wall Regulator, Boston, c. 1889, the walnut case with side lites, 15 1/4-inch dia. painted iron dial, eight-day brass weight-driven timepiece with 6 1/2-inch tall damascened plates marked E. Howard & Co., Boston , Graham dead-beat escapement, jeweled pallets and pallet and escape wheel pivots, Geneva stop and maintaining power all powered by a cast iron weight and regulated by a four-jar, etched glass, mercury-filled pendulum with invar rod, silvered beat scale on a fretted holder, (lacking lower carved ornament), ht. 69 1/4 in. Literature: This model is illustrated in the E. Howard Watch and Clock Co. 1889 Catalogue of Fine Regulators . "89" is stamped on top frame of pendulum jar assembly and at the top of the suspension assembly; "2382" is found at the top of the pendulum assembly; "7" is found on corresponding elements of pendulum frame.
