Brown-painted Pine Glazed Hanging Watch Hutch with Pocket Watch, probably Massachusetts, early 19th century, the hutch with shaped backboard with wire hinged door with round glazed aperture, the interior door with penciled inscription: "Watch Case Property of John Howland Great grandfather of Nancy H. Pool and Grandfather of George H. Gifford;" a wire hook supports a silver pair cased pocket watch with English hallmarks, with bull's-eye crystal, containing four mid-19th watchmakers' labels, two from "J. & W.W. Griswold Clock & Watch Maker Fitchburg, Mass.," and two from "L.S. Stowe Watchmaker and Jeweler, South Gardiner, Mass.," the reverse with inscriptions indicating date for watch cleaning and repairs done, (repaired crack), hutch ht. 16 1/4, wd. 5 1/2, dp. 2 1/4 in.
