Note: Harold Tovish (1921-) is an Expressionist sculptor and figural artist who rose to prominence in the 1950s, despite the overwhelming dominance of abstract art in that period. The theme of heads within confined spaces representing scenes of refuge or entrapment is important in his work, which is exhibited at the Smithsonian and other institutions.
