After Carlo Dolci (Italian, 1616-1686), "Saint Mary Magdelene", oil on canvas, unsigned. Late 19th/Early 20th century copy after the Baroque master's painting that currently is housed in the Pitti Palace Collection in Florence, Italy. Like the original, this work portrays Mary Magdalene with an alabaster pot of ointment that, according to the Bible, she used to anoint Jesus' feet in humble penitence. Biblical figure looking upward toward heaven with her hand placed over her heart symbolizing the love that she has for the forgiveness of her sins. Verso of frame with label from A.B. Closson Jr. and Co. Art Dealers, Cincinnati, Ohio. Framed 36.5" x 30.75". Unframed 29" x 23.25".
