Northwest Beaded Cloth "Octopus" Bag, Cree, c. first half 19th century, the red trade cloth form with eight bifurcated tabs off the bottom, decorated with silk appliqued curvilinear and geometric devices, with white and dark blue seed bead detailing, multiple strands of early trade beads with wool tassels hang between and from the tabs, hide strap with tubular bone beads probably a later addition, (damage, bead loss), lg. 19 in. Provenance: Possibly owned by Titian Peale.
