Queen Anne Walnut and Walnut Veneer Inlaid High Chest of Drawers, Massachusetts, c. 1730-50, the top section with a projecting molded cornice containing a drawer, above a double arch molded case of two short drawers and three graduated long drawers, set into the lower case of two short drawers, a central shallow drawer and flanking deeper drawers, all on a cockbeaded deeply valanced skirt joining cabriole legs continuing to pad feet on platforms, the engraved brass escutcheons and pulls may be original, refinished, (imperfections), ht. 72, wd. 39 1/4, dp. 22 in. Provenance: Florence Sutro Anspacher, for whom the New York Shakespeare Festival's theatre is named.
