Silk Needlework Biblical Picture, by Lucy Newberry, probably New England, early 19th century, silk and chenille threads and watercolor on a silk ground depicting "Samuel's First Prophecy," the title inscribed on the glass, showing the figures of young Samuel and the priest Eli in the tabernacle with an ornately patterned floor, the maker "Lucy Newberry" inscribed on the eglomise glass, (minor toning to background sky), 19 3/4 x 19 1/2, in the original molded giltwood frame.
