Federal Maple, Cherry, Tiger Maple, and Bird's-eye Maple Inlaid Desk, probably New Hampshire, c. 1810-15, the flat molded cornice above two tiger maple string-inlaid short drawers and three cockbeaded hinged doors with inlaid bird's-eye maple panels bordered by cherry crossbanding and ovolo corners, opening to shelves and drawers, on projecting base with conformingly inlaid fold-out writing surface and case of three cockbeaded drawers each inlaid with two bird's-eye maple ovals set in cherry mitred panels bordered by stringing and centering vertical chevron banding, on cutout base with horizontal chevron paneled banding above the central wavy birch drop panel, old brasses may be original, refinished, (minor imperfections), ht. 52 3/4, wd. 39 1/4, dp. 18 in.
