Two Small Wallpaper-covered Bandboxes, America, second quarter, 19th century, one round with white and brown scrolled foliate designs on a blue ground, the cover with a yellow, black and gray foliate scrolls and flowers on a red ground, green brown and white rim band, the second box oval with blue and white lapped leaf design, the cover with white and mauve buds on a yellow ground, ht. 2 3/4, 2, dia. 5, 4 1/4 in. Exhibited: The first box exhibited at The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, By and for the People: American Folk Art From a Private Collection, October 3rd -November 14th 1976, retaining exhibition label.
