Attributed to Charles Julien Saint Memin (French, 1770 - 1852) Portrait of a Gentleman. Unsigned, inscribed "S 'M' ft." l.l. Watercolor on paper, depicting a half-length profile portrait of a blue-eyed gentleman seated on a bow-back chair, wearing a black waistcoat, white shirt and cravat, 7 x 5 3/4 in. in a period molded giltwood frame with eglomise mat. Condition: Paper laid onto cardboard backing, toning. Frame liner has a small piece of gesso missing in the lower left corner; the white line on the right side is where it has shifted in the frame.
