Pair of Transfer Decorated "Boston Mails" Plates, James and Thomas Edwards, Kilncroft Works, Sylvester Stree, Burslem, 1841 round plates with fourteen ribs on the rims, black transfer decoration depicting the "Gentlemen's Cabin" motif with three passengers and a steward, representing the historical mail ship service between England and North America, black printed mark of "Boston Mails" over a vessel, impressed "Porcelaine a la Perle J. E.," (glaze wear, one with rim hairline), dia. 9 1/4 in. 1 1/4 in hairline from rim on one plate, wear to glaze predominanly on the ribs and rims.
