Needlework Sampler, by "Catherine Arnold aged 9 Wrought 1822," silk threads on a linen ground with rows of three alphabets over a pious verse and signature rows, enclosed in geometric strawberry vine borders, (fading, toning, small area of staining), 16 1/4 x 13 1/4 in. , in a period molded curly maple frame. Provenance: Ex collection of Robert Roche. Allover fading but especially to outer strawberries and the third alphabet from the top. Light staining to strawberry center inner left border.
