Pictorial Silk Needlework of "The Cherry Pickers," probably Philadelphia, early 19th century, silk and chenille threads on a silk ground depicting a young man on a ladder picking cherries from a tree and dropping them into the apron of a young lady below, two little girls with basket and aprons full of cherries wait beside the tree, in the background are houses, a hilly landscape, trees and a grapevine, with painted background, facial features and arms, sight size 19 1/4 x 22 in. , in a eglomise mat and molded giltwood frame. - few small scattered borwnish spots in background also a few small light spots in the background, a few sagging chennile threads at lower center edge, not examined out of frame, probably original frame. the motif after a print by Nichols Ponce from a painting by Antoine Baudoin circa 1775.
