Whaling Souvenir Pitcher and Plaque, America and England, early 20th century, an earthenware pitcher made by Buffalo Pottery for retailer Bliss & Nye, New Bedford, Massachusetts, c. 1908 with several brown transfer printed whaling related images including "The Niger- The last of the Famous Full-Rigged Ships Formally Engaged in Whaling," a scene entitled "Sperm Whaling; The Capture," the spout with inscription "The Whaling City Souvenir of New Bedford Mass.," and the seal of the town of New Bedford below the spout; together with a ceramic calendar plaque for the year 1925 made by Wedgwood, with a brown transfer printed image of "The Flying Cloud," a retailer's inscription on the reverse reads " Jones, McDuffee & Stratton Corp'n Crockery, China, & Glass Merchants, 33 Franklin St. Boston, U.S.A.," ( rim losses and cracks to pitcher), pitcher ht. 6 1/4, plaque 3 1/4 x 4 7/8 in.
