Gilded Molded Copper Eagle Weather Vane, attributed to L. W. Cushing & Sons, Waltham, Massachusetts, probably late 19th century, full-bodied crouched, spreadwing figure mounted on a large molded sheet copper orb, no stand, (dents, gilt wear), ht. 30, wd. 30 in. Provenance: Benjamin A. Green, Lexington, Massachusetts. Literature: An 1883 L.W. Cushing catalogue of weather vanes illustrates this example on p. 18. there are dents across the width of both wings, dent on breast, several dents on the orb, 1 1/2 in seam separation on one wing, evidence of some solder repair where wings attached.
