Paint Decorated Pine Six-Board Chest, probably Connecticut, c. 1790, the rectangular molded hinged top opens to an interior with till, on a box with applied molded skirt, and cutout sides, the chest painted blue, the front with central overlapping urns holding a symmetrical arrangement of sunflowers, flanked by mermaids holding flowering vines; early blue painted background with later polychrome decoration, (imperfections), ht. 23 3/4, wd. 43 1/2, dp. 17 1/2 in. Scratches, abrasions, cracks, painted decoration, a later addition (c. 1900?), in good condition.
