Painted Tin Candlestick, America, early 19th century, cylindrical candle cup with everted rim, pushup lever mounted on a square domed base, painted black, the base with green and yellow leaf decoration on the corners, and a yellow wavy line border, ht. 5 1/8, base dia. 5 3/4 in. Literature: A similar candlestick is illustrated in The History & Folklore of American Country Tinware , by Margaret Coffin, p. 176. There looks like a few spots of retouch to the shaft. base looks original, scattered areas of paint loss.
