Six Paint-Decorated Tinware Items, America, early 19th century, including three trunks: one rectangular with flat hinged top painted black with red, yellow, and green stylized fruit and flowers on the front, and yellow leaf and dot border and yellow striping; two dome top trunks, one with white painted border on the front with red and green undulating flower design and salmon painted leaf, twisted ribbon, dot, and swag borders against a black ground, and a small trunk with a red berry and green and yellow leaves painted on the front with yellow leaf, swag, and linear embellishments on a black ground; a snuff box with hinged lid, turned wooden knop, with polychrome painted flowers on the front and yellow stripe borders; a tapered cylindrical syrup jug with strap handle, with red and yellow brushstroke decoration on a black ground; a small oval tea caddy with cover, painted yellow with red, blue, and green flower and leaf decoration, (paint wear, imperfections), ht. 3 1/8-5 1/8 in. flat top trunk- lower portion of latch missing. syrup jug- spout portion of cover missing, and hinge point is separated from the lid.
