Pair of Fancy Painted Chairs, probably New England, c. 1825, the rectangular concave crests centering freehand painted shells and foliate designs in gold, green, and red, flanked by panels enclosing sheaves of wheat above turned raking stiles and three horizontal spindles and shaped rushed seats on vase and ring-turned legs joined by stretchers, all-over faux tortoise shell paint, (minor imperfections), ht. 35, seat ht. 18 in. Nail added to one splat; rush seats worn; minor paint loss.
