Needlework Sampler, "Wrought by Abi--- G. Peirce, aged - Hopkinton August 1819," silk threads on a linen ground with rows of cross-stitched alphabets, over a verse "Beauty and wit will die/Learning will vanish away/And all the arts of life will be forgotten/But virtue will remain forever" flanked by a tree and unfinished square reserve, surrounded by a zig-zag border, sight size 12 3/4 x 17 1/4 in., in a contemporary frame. Note: Affixed to the reverse of the frame is a fragment of paper inscribed in pencil "Made in the 9th year of her age."
