Needlework Sampler, Louisa Kilbourn, Philadelphia, c. 1814, silk threads on a linen ground, centered with a basket of fruit below a reserve containing a sorrowful verse ending indistinctly "Philadelphia June ----," surrounded by grapevines, above stitched lettering "Respectfully presented to Charles and Mary Kilbourn by their affectionate daughter Louisa Kilbourn done in her 11th year 1814," enclosed in sawtooth and undulating floral borders, (stitch losses and oxidation spots), 17 1/4 x 17 3/4 in., framed. deteriorization of brown stitches in verse, borders, several words unreadable., few small spots of dark brown oxidation. in flowers and grapes
