Needlework Picture of a Soldier and a Young Lady, "Mary Ann Johnson 16 March 1824," silk threads on a finely woven linen ground, depicting a soldier examining his sword, wearing a pink coat and white trousers, and a lady wearing a white dress and a fanciful hair ornament, stitched facial features, flanked by stylized flowers, (toning, stains sight size 9 5/8 x 13 3/4 in. , in a period molded bird's-eye maple frame with gilt liner. all over toning, dark oxidation areas around soldiers hat, around lettering and edges, stitches and background stable, threads bright.
