Joseph Eliot Enneking (American, 1881-1942) View of Gloucester Harbor Signed "J. Eliot Enneking" l.r., indistinctly inscribed on the reverse. Oil on canvasboard, 8 x 10 in. (20.3 x 25.4 cm), framed. Condition: Good. N.B. The view depicted here is from the back of the Harborview Hotel (now demolished) looking across Gloucester Harbor towards the western shore. The buildings on the right are on Rocky Neck and the inlet to the right is Wonson's Cove. Other artists, including Twachtman and Gordon Grant, also stayed at and painted from the hotel.
