William Baxter Palmer Closson (American, 1848-1926) Three-Day Guests at Wellesley College Signed "Wm. Baxter Closson" l.l., identified on a presentation plaque affixed to the frame, partials labels and a "Ex. P.A.F.A." stamp on the reverse. Oil on board, 20 x 16 in. (50.8 x 40.6 cm), framed (under glass). Condition: Good. Provenance: Deaccessioned from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. N.B. In 1918 Closson exhibited a work entitled At a Wellesley College Fete at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. This may be the same painting.
