Antique Natural Pearl and Diamond Necklace, Carrington & Co. , set with white pearls graduating in size from approx. 8.50 to 9.90 mm and old European-cut diamonds, approx. total wt. 34.06 cts., silver-topped 15kt gold mount, lg. 15 1/2 in., original fitted box, unsigned, GIA certificate no. 14871318. Note: Carrington & Co. were active in the second half of the 19th century and were known for their pearl jewelry. The firm survived into the 20th century and was purchased by Garrard's. Since the box mentions the jewelers' appointment to the Queen, Prince and Princess of Wales, the necklace dates from between 1863, the year of the Prince and Princess's marriage, and 1901, when the Queen died.
